DLA members are reminded to refer to the email circulated to the membership on 20 August 2026, which highlighted the importance of responding to the MHRA’s consultation on statutory fees.
The consultation includes a proposal to increase the annual medical devices post-market surveillance (PMS) registration fee from £300 to £511 per chargeable GMDN Level 2 category, representing an increase of approximately 70%. The DLA is concerned about the potential impact this could have on dental laboratories, particularly small and medium-sized businesses that are already facing rising costs across many areas of operation.
To help members participate, the DLA has provided suggested responses to the consultation questions, making it quick and straightforward to submit a response. Members are encouraged to use these suggested answers where they reflect their views, or to amend them and provide their own comments and experiences.
While the DLA will be submitting a formal response on behalf of the profession, it is essential that the MHRA also hears directly from individual dental laboratories. The greater the number of responses received from DLA members, the stronger the message regarding the potential consequences of further fee increases for the sector.
If you have not yet completed the consultation, please take a few minutes to do so. Your response can help ensure that the views and concerns of dental laboratories are properly represented.
The deadline for consultation responses is 25 September 2026.
Every response counts and every voice makes a difference.
